In February 1973, G.R. Ward collected London Clay fossils from a spoil heap from a site investigation borehole outside No. 26, Hunter Avenue, Shenfield. A total of 14 species of fossils were found and deposited with the Passmore Edwards Museum. The fossils are now part of the Essex Field Club’s collection.
