Sun Jun 24th 2018 10:30.  Colchester Natural History Society EWT Iron Latch Meadow NR near Eight Ash Green. Meet at Halstead Road layby TL956254. - lunch, bring sandwiches. A morning visit to this small but species-rich meadow, which the CNHS played a major part in both clearing scrub from and having it declared a nature reserve in the 1980s. This acid-neutral grassland supports five plant species that are scarce in Essex. Our leader will be volunteer warden David Baker, who found this meadow in 1982 and will talk about the history of the meadow as we wander round. We will follow this up with an optional afternoon visit to the nearby Woodland Trust Fordham Hall Estate. Contact: Contact Leader David Baker on 01206 242059 for further information.
