Sun Aug 5th 2018 Colchester Natural History Society Car trip to Shingle Street, Suffolk. meet at 10am at the parking area at approximately TM36794293. Shingle Street is a special site within the Suffolk coastal strip. It is characterised by the extensive shingle beach and constantly shifting shingle banks and by the grazing marshes and dykes behind the beach. Wildlife to be found includes barn owls; various mammals; grasshoppers and crickets; dragonflies and damselflies; and such plants as yellow-horned poppy, sea kale, sea pea, sea campion, viper's-bugloss, hoary mullein and the coastal yellow crisp-moss Tortella flavovirens.
