Mainly calcareous areas. Known recently only from the Grays area. It is known from the chalk pits and Brannetts Wood. Many of its sites are threatened by development.

This is a southern hoverfly found visiting umbels in wooded districts. Larval host plant unknown. In Essex it is known recently only from the chalk pits and Brannetts Wood in the Grays area. Many of its sites are threatened by development. References
