Species text
This bug has only been known in Britain since 1951 and, since it is a large and distinctive species feeding openly on hawthorns, especially large old bushes in fairly open space, it is probably a genuinely recent arrival. There are several records from the south of the county, but it appears not to have become especially frequent. It has increased substantially in frequency in recent years, and seems still to be expanding its British range. The national status of the species is in need of re-assessment. References
