Species text
The wasp Gorytes quadrifasciatus is widespread in England, but local. It preys on planthoppers Philaenus and nests in soil, sometimes quite heavy (Richards, 1980). It is rare in Essex with most records adjacent to the Thames. It is also known from Walton Naze (2005) and Holland Haven (2014) in the north-east of the county. References
