Species text
This bee is recorded sparingly in southern England from Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and the Brecks in East Anglia. Falk (1991b) reports only seven post-1970 localities. In Essex it has been recorded from Chafford Hundred (now almost completely developed for housing) (Tattersfield et al. 1996) and a single male has been collected at Middlewick Ranges in Colchester. The bee probably nests in bare or sparsely vegetated sandy soil in warm, sunny situations. British pollen sources are unknown, but it is likely to involve various yellow composites (Asteraceae).
