Interpretation of distribution maps
In summer 2003 three breeding populations of the Southern Green Shieldbug Nezera viridula were discovered outdoors in London (Barclay 2004, Shardlow & Taylor 2004), the first time the species had been found in Britain as anything other than a casual occurrence. In October 2003 the author collected a 5th instar nymph at a brownfield site in Stratford (TQ377841), which has probably now been destroyed as part of developments in preparation for the 2012 Olympics. Then during 2008 5th instar nymphs were swept on two occasions in August and in September 2008 from the same area of herbage at a site near Stanford le Hope. References
