Species text
P. campbelli has a widespread but very scattered distribution in Britain. Although it may be rarely encountered due to its habitat preference, it will be assigned Scarce B status in a national status review in preparation. . The spider has been found beneath rocks and amongst dry reed-bed litter and it has also been taken whilst ballooning off fence posts in upland moorland. It is likely that the species typically inhabits subterranean mammal burrows as specimens have been found in mole nests. There is only a single record for Essex. References
