Species text
This flesh fly (listed as Sarcophaga laciniata in Falk, 1991) is known from Southern England north to Worcestershire with recent records from Cornwall, Wiltshire and Surrey. It is recorded new to Essex in this survey. It is a flesh fly found on chalk grassland, heaths and in woods, and larvae have been reared from the snail Helix contiana (Recorder species account).
