Species text
Sitticus inexpectus was described as a new species in 1997 and British records of S. rupicola refer to this species. It is confined to coastal sites southeast of the line between the Wash and the Severn. The spider occurs on coastal shingle and amongst tidal litter on shell shingle and sand adjacent to saltmarsh (Harvey et al. 2002). All records submitted to the Spider Recording Scheme lie between East Suffolk and the Isle of Wight. References
