In Essex it has been recorded on the Stort, the lower Lea, the Beam (at Dagenham Chase) and the Ingrebourne River as well as at Stanford Warren and a site in Epping Forest. It is known to tolerate brackish conditions and has been recorded on grazing marsh at Brightlingsea in this situation (Harvey, 2005). References
