Cetti's warbler Stanford Warren and Seawall TQ 690813 An area of extreme natural history interest comprising an extensive reedbed and associated flora bounded on one side by the Thames, another by a sewage works and farmland and a third by an area of flooded pits. A tidal creek flows through the site and controls the water level in the reed -beds. Situated on the first bend of the Thames, it is ideally positioned to receive migrant birds and indeed has produced a number of rarities over the years. An area of mud along the foreshore attracts large numbers of waders and ducks particularly shelduck. Other notable visitors include osprey, bearded tit, Cetti's warbler and great grey shrike. Access is from Stanford-le-Hope via Wharf Road or Mucking Church. 13
