Summary of geological interest

Disused sand pit close to the road which formerly had exposures of pale yellow sand belonging to the Kesgrave (Thames) Sands and Gravels. Much sand is still visible but there are no sections. There has been much burrowing by badgers. The pit is shown on the 1921 Ordnance Survey map as 'old sand pit', so it has been in existence for a considerable time.
