Peter Kirby Hemiptera Collection

Peter Kirby was the Essex County Recorder for Hemiptera until 2025. Peter was one of the Passmore Edwards Museum survey team based at East Ham until 1985 which resulted in 20 trays of Hemiptera specimens collected until 1985. These can be seen by appointment at the Green Centre, in cabinets 75 and 76A.

The spreadsheet contains an inventory up to 1985 of Cercopidae (froghoppers), Aphrophoridae (froghoppers), Membracidae (treehoppers), Cicadellidae (leafhoppers). Cixiidae (lacehoppers), Delphacidae (planthoppers), Issiidae, Pentatomoidea (shieldbugs), Coreidae (leatherbugs), Alydidae (broad headed bugs), Rhopalidae, Stenocephalidae (spurgebugs), Lygaeidae (groundbugs), Berytidae (stiltbugs), Piesmatidae (beetbugs), Tingidae (lacebugs), Reduvidae (assassin bugs), Nabidae (damselbugs), Anthocoridae (flower bugs), Cimicidae (bedbugs), Microphysidae, Miridae (plantbugs), Dipsocoridae, Saldidae (shorebugs), Mesoveliidae,, Hydrometridae (water measurers), Veliidae, Gerridae (water striders), Nepidae (water scorpions), Notonectidae (backswimmers), Naucoridae (saucer bugs), Pleiidae (pygmy backswimmers) and Corixidae (water boatmen).
