Record Submission

You need to register  and log-on to submit your records

Use the record entry page for records in any group, so that your information can be included in county records and not wasted. Records provide crucial information to enable the status, distribution, ecology and phenology of species can be better understood to inform their conservation and management.

Records will be rigorously checked and any errors or potential mis-identifications will be followed up. Please be aware that while many species can be reliably identified from good quality photos if they show crucial identification features, the separation of similar species may require examination of actual specimens and in the case of a good proportion of invertebrates for example examination under a microscope.

You will receive feedback on the status your records through logged-on access to My Online Records. Identifications will need to be verified by an acknowledged national or county specialist before they will be included in our permanent database and we will ask for more information where necessary. Also make sure the email efc@essexfieldclub.org.uk is added to your approved email list.

If you regularly provide your records at intervals using MapMate or use the Essex Moth template for moth records, please continue to do so. The best preference for providing moth records is as a MapMate sync file (to cuk 2gv), to Peter Harvey, grayspeterharvey@gmail.com. The Club can offer copies of MapMate to paid up members who currently do not use MapMate for their recording. We can also offer support and hopefully also training sessions at the Green Centre to cover more advanced use (most likely on Wednesdays / Saturdays).
