Species text
The small shiny black predatory ground beetle Bembidion clarkii is widespread but local, recorded from England, North Wales and South East Scotland. It is most frequently found by the coast in marshes, willow carr and the margins of standing water, amongst lush, low vegetation on soft soil or mud at the margins of ponds, lakes, reservoirs, gravel pits and also under sallow bark (Hyman & Parsons, 1992).
