Species text
Madiza pachymera has only recently been recognised as British, and was previously included under M. brittanica. Few confirmed localities are known, from the Isle of Wight to Huntingdonshire. The species has been recorded from old broadleaved woodland and other situations that have experienced a long continuity of dead wood and old or diseased trees. It appears to develop in rotten wood detritus and the retention of any dead wood and old or diseased trees is important, ensuring continuity and a range in the size and state of decay of dead wood.
