Species text
Polydrusus pulchellus is a widespread but local golden green weevil recorded around Britain's coasts in England and also recorded in parts of Wales and South West Scotland. It is found on saltmarsh, coastal shingle and estuaries. The beetle is phytophagous, feeding on a variety of saltmarsh plants, including sea wormwood Artemisia maritima, sea-purslane Halimione portulacoides and sea beet Beta maritima, possibly also buck's-horn plantation Plantago coronopus. The larvae probably feed on the roots of the foodplants (Hyman & Parsons 1992). Disturbance of coastal shingle should be avoided. References
