Well distributed insect nationally in the south from Norfolk to the south coast. In Essex there are 56 1km records covering 17 10km squares, the bulk of these close to the Colne, Blackwater and Belton Hills areas, with occasional records further inland. It seems to prefer tall scrubby coastal vegetation and is included because of the high degree of threat to the Essex marshes and adjacent areas.
