Species text
This is a scarce, but also very unobtrusive fly of lush marshland and wet meadows. In Essex it has been recorded on the Stort, the lower Lea, the Beam (at Dagenham Chase) and the Ingrebourne River as well as at Stanford Warren and a site in Epping Forest. It is known to tolerate brackish conditions and has been recorded on grazing marsh at Brightlingsea in this situation (Harvey, 2005). References
