Essex Red Data List comment
Scarce in Essex. Recorded from Dagnam Park and Harold Hill, Epping Forest and Weald Park.

Species text
This would appear to be a scarce species within the county with records from only eight sites post-1980. Older records exist for a number of sites including Thorndon Park, Hatfield Forest, Hainault Forest and Langdon Hills. It prefers a combination of wet ground and woodland in lowland areas and is attracted to cattle and humans (Harvey, 2005). References
