Species text
This is a formerly widespread longhorn beetle occurring throughout England north to Cumberland, also recorded in south Wales, but apparently much declined with very few modern records. It occurs in woodland and scrub, associated with blackthorn, elm, hazel, lime and osier. This species has also been found breeding in bramble and loganberry canes and in the stems of dog rose. The larvae probably develop in twigs and small branches. On the Continent, the larvae excavate longitudinal galleries under bark. Adults can be found on hawthorn and umbel flowers. References
