Species text
Ophonus azureus has been recorded south of a line from Lincolnshire to the Mersey, but many records are pre-1970. It is found in open clay sites on the coast, but also inland on sunny chalk or limestone slopes (Luff 1998). There are very few post-1950 Essex records, with at least two sites now destroyed.
