Species text
Phyllotreta punctulata (= aerea) is a black flea beetle that is widespread but local in southern and central England, and also recorded in North West England and South Wales. There is are old records for North East England. It has been recorded from radish Raphanus sativus, horse-radish Armoracia rusticana and turnip Brassica rapa, but probably also on other species of the Cruciferae. The larvae probably feed at the roots of the foodplant during May and early June, with pupation probably occurring in June or July (Hyman & Parsons, 1992). References
