Species text
Micrargus apertus is a money spider that was relatively quite recently separated from the closely similar M. herbigradus. Its ecology is unclear, although records in the south have come from woodlands, perhaps especially coniferous or mixed, as well as heathland and marshy grasslands. The spider seems to be more widespread and frequent in the north. In Essex there have only been extremely few records. References
