EFC Centre at Wat Tyler Country ParkOur centre is available for visits on a pre-booked basis on Wednesdays between 10am - 4pm. The Club’s activities and displays are also usually open to the public on the first Saturday of the month 11am - 4pm.

locate The Dell, built by Alfred Russel Wallace
Alfred Russel Wallace was elected an honorary member of the Essex Field Club at the inaugural meeting of the Club in 1880. He lived in The Dell between 1872 and 1876. See also The Alfred Russel Wallace Memorial Fund website and Thurrock Local History Society website for more information.

locate Thorndon Country Park
A country park important for wildlife. It is managed by Essex. It is usually thought of in two parts: northern part has car parks, visitor centre (run by EWT), and is mainly wooded; southern part has one parking area and is more open with grassland slopes and a large lake, with woodland to the north. The two parts are linked by footpaths that run through restored farmland.

Undercliffs with remarkable and important geology and wildlife.

locate Ingrebourne Valley
The best remaining river valley marshland in Greater London, with other important habitats adjacent or nearby including some excellent brownfield and Thames Terrace Grassland areas.

locate Blue House Farm, North Fambridge
Essex Wildlife Trust coastal grazing marsh reserve. Situated along the banks of the River Crouch at North Fambridge. It is bordered by the river to the south, Wild and Ulens Farms to the north (beyond the Wickford-Southminster railway line), Bridgemarsh Island (saltings) to the east and Fambridge village and Fleet Farm to the west.

Containing over 70 plots, this is one of three allotment sites in Maldon.

locate Lodge Farm, Witham
Common pipistrelle and possible soprano pipistrelle transitional/occasional (non-breeding) roost utilised by a small number of bats (max 3 recorded). These roosts are associated with confirmed lifted tiles on the north gable end of the farmhouse, and potentially other lifted tiles on north and west elevations.
