Grimsditch Wood is a Local wildlife Site south of Little Walden. On the sloping field west of the wood are three basin-shaped hollows, which have been claimed to be Neolithic flint mines similar to the Cissbury flint mines in West Sussex and therefore about 5,000 years old. The soil around these hollows is claimed to be full of worked flint flakes and large flints bearing evidence of being artificially chipped. These are said to cluster thickly round one of the pits. The hollows are faintly visible on aerial images from Google Earth.
