Stems of the fossil crinoid (sea lily) Isselicrinus subbasaltiformis occur in great abundance (George & Vincent 1976). The island can only be reached at low tide by a causeway from the mainland. The island is private property but fossils can be collected from the foreshore at low tide. A late Neolithic “ early Bronze Age assemblage of flints has been found on the foreshore here at TL 904 066 (Vincent & George 1984).
