Mon May 27th 2024 10:30-15:00 | Carver Barracks, Debden. This is a large tract of calcareous grassland which always seems to bring up surprising species.
There are planted copses and an ancient wet woodland as well as a tract of heathland, water bodies and scrub.
Please wear suitable clothing. the Met Office have a recording station at Elder Street, Wimbish and can be accessed via their app and website.
Bring packed lunch. There are picnic tables and a compostable toilet in the Woodland Walk.

A National Trust site with extensive recent works to establish saltmarsh habitat.
Turn down South House Chase, a discreet lane opposite the bus stop on Mundon Road (TL85980537) Meeting at the farm gate (TL86360548) at 10.15am. Call Rob on 07585577228 if necessary. One or two dates might mean waiting for up to 30 minutes for the tide to drop. Cross back by 4.30pm when the tide would start to cover the causeway. | Thu Jun 6th 2024 10:30 | Ramsey Marsh. Survey an area of saltmarsh lagoon on the Dengie. Meet at 10.30am at the bottom of Stansgate Road, by the gate just before Marconi Sailing Club at TL93190568.
Directions: after leaving Steeple village, take the first left into Stansgate Road. Follow the track all the way down to the meeting point. We will have vehicular access further along the track all the way round to the sea wall sluice at TL93740588.
